Christopher Smith is an international lawyer specializing in M&A, leading the firm’s M&A team. He has advised on the sale and purchase of more than 1,000 MW of renewables projects, taking charge of due diligence investigations, the preparation of transaction documentation and the closing of deals. He also advises on the electric car, self-consumption, digital society and European law. He forms part of the firm’s team responsible for the UNEF working groups on self-consumption and PPAs.

Christopher has English as a mother tongue and speaks Spanish fluently. He graduated with a law degree from the University of Western Australia, has a post-graduate qualification in legal practice from the College of Law (Western Australia) and is currently studying a Masters of International Relations at the Institut de Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals.

As an associate lawyer in Squire Patton Boggs, Christopher acted on dozens of M&A transactions, dispute resolution matters and the provision of general corporate advice in various jurisdictions, including Australia, Spain, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. In addition to his M&A experience he has also worked on the preparation of PPAs, corporate restructurings and advising on matters of compliance with respect to foreign direct investment into various countries. In the legal consulting space, Christopher has advised numerous foreign companies with respect to the barriers to entry that they experience in the Spanish, Australian and Middle East markets.
